We just learned last week that Streets of Rage 4 would include a slew of awesome features, like unlockable retro-style characters from previous games and the ability to select the soundtracks from the first two games in the series.
Today, Dotemu has finally revealed that Streets of Rage 4 will be released on April 30, which is less than two weeks! If that doesn’t interest you, you can check out Online Casino UK for some added entertainment.
They also announced that the Battle Mode, which was introduced in Streets of Rage 2, will be returning. Battle Mode allows up to four players to fight it out in eight different stages.
As previously reported, Streets of Rage 4 will feature unlockable pixel-style characters from the previous trilogy, with movesets and abilities from each game. For instance, characters from Streets of Rage 2 will call the cops for back-up with their special moves and Streets of Rage 3 characters can run and roll. In total, there are 12 retro characters that can be unlocked, to include fan favorites like Skate, Dr. Zan and Max, which brings the total playable characters to 17.
Last month, Limited Run Games announced pre-orders for physical copies of the game and included an ultimate collector’s edition, Limited Run Games has a “Classic Edition” that includes:
- A PS4 (or Switch) copy
- G2 steelbook case
- A Custom Genesis clam shell case that fits your steelbook and regular game case
If you haven’t heard, Streets of Rage 4 is being co-developed by Lizardcube (the same awesome people who did Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap), Guard Crush Games and Dotemu, who are also publishing the game. Set 10 years after the last game, Streets of Rage 4 has the entire original cast back in Axel Stone, Adam Hunter and Blaze Fielding, but also has new characters in Cherry Hunter and Floyd Iraia. Most recently, Dotemu announced the game will have four-player couch co-op and two-player online co-op play, which is huge news as it will mark the first time in series’ history to allow for four players simultaneously.
Streets of Rage 4 is developed by Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games and Dotemu and will release on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on April 30 for $24.99. You can also add it to your Steam wishlist for extra support!
