Heroki finally releases onto iOS devices
It’s been a long, arduous journey for Heroki. The iOS-exclusive, action-adventure game was initially shown at SEGA’s booth at PAX Prime 2013, where SEGA announced the game would be released later that year.
Obviously, that didn’t happen, and the game was delayed into sometime 2014. Not much was heard from developer Picomy Games or SEGA, which last posted about the game in its SEGA Blog in late 2013.
It wasn’t until the end of last year when we heard anything close to a release date from Picomy, when they announced on its Facebook page the game would be released in early 2015. Well, we’re full into July, and the game has finally, yes finally, been released, folks.
Going against SEGA’s recent trend of free-to-play mobile games, Heroki clocks in at 271 MB and costs $7.99, which is fairly expensive in terms of mobile games. Picomy does promise there’s more than 10 hours of “deep” gameplay and four worlds to explore, with the game running at 60 FPS.
The game stars Heroki, a young lad who lives in the whimsical sky village of Levantia. All is going well until Dr. N. Forchin steals a magical amulet called the Emirex. Heroki then departs on a quest to regain the Emirex for his village, where he can use the wind to fly thanks to his handy propeller hat.
There’s also a slew of mini-games and side-quests that will earn you special rewards, Game Center Achievements, Cloud saving and all that other stuff that mobile games are supposed to do nowadays.
The game requires you to use an iPhone 4S or newer, an iPad 2 or iPad Mini or newer, and at least a 5th generation iPod Touch. You can buy the game on iOS for $7.99 here.
