SEGA Genesis Chime Linked With Artist Arca

This news will bring childhood memories flooding your brain as your mind takes you back to a time when your only worry was how fast you can get home to turn on your Sega console and hear that iconic startup jingle.

Analogue made the announcement back in October 2018 that they would be reintroducing the loved retro console gaming device. With its rebranding the new upgraded console shall be known as the Mega Sega.

The Mega Sega is a High Definition console which will allow you to play more than 2180 games you once spent hours having fun with. Perfect for showing the kids of today how the home gaming industry started, the only difference being that hopefully we won’t need lose our breath.  It seemed the only way to get a cartridge to work back in the day was blowing into it with the force of a gale wind.

The console allows you to revisit Sega’s 8-bit and 16-bit era however now you get to do it in 1080p with 48 kHz 16-bit stereo on a 50 inch flat screen instead of the good old 10 inch tube telly. The talk of the town is that Sega has called on the eccentric Venezuelan born artist, Arca. Known for his bold and innovative approach Arca has been linked with a multitude of big name games including, Red Dead Redemption 2 having contributed extensively to the sound track.   

You will hear a 12 second intro composed by the artist himself with an all too familiar glitchy retro chime that takes you back decades, some even going as far as saying the catchy retro jingle will help you achieve ambient nirvana.

Sega Enterprises took the gaming market by storm in the early 1980’s and quickly became top five arcade game produces in the world. The glory days didn’t last long when in 1981/82 arcade games for some reason did not appeal to the current population, but look whose back.

There is a great debate happening, where initially video games were thought to be detrimental to growing kids mental health. However recent studies have shown that video games actually increase cognition by bombarding players with multiple problems increasing problem solving abilities and reaction speed, the same as if one were playing a sport.

Sonic the Hedgehog was Sega’s flagship series which was created to compete with their rival Nintendo’s Mario Brothers. Both are equally embedded in every 80’s and 90’s baby’s head surely.

Sega has had all the best gaming developers working with them since the beginning and you can be sure that they are putting every ounce of energy into remastering classic games. One game set to be included in the Mega Drive is the infamous arcade fighting game Mortal Kombat, this game turned out to be so popular a movie was commissioned, unfortunately even though it was brilliantly done turned out to be a box office flop.

Some other iconic arcade fighting games you can expect are Virtua Fighter 2, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Samurai Showdown and arguably one of the most played and well known games ever, Street Fighter.
