Christmas 1991 was a special year to be a SEGA and Nintendo owner

iRetroGamer shares his awesome Christmas haul that year

Ahhh, Christmas of 1991 was a pretty magical year for me and my younger brother. As owners of an NES and Genesis, we got some pretty sweet games that year. I can’t remember for sure, but I’m pretty positive that was the year we got our Super Nintendo, and I do remember playing Super Mario World all day and really loving it.

I also fondly remember our parents giving us those awesome Funcoland price guides that listed all their available games, and we’d mark off the ones we wanted, and my parents would do their best to get several of them for us to open on Christmas morning.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any videos to capture that old-school gaming magic of those days, but thankfully, Tyler at iRetroGamer does, and in his latest video, he shares with us the magic of that Christmas day. The lucky sod got some great games, including Golden Axe II, Toejam and Earl, and Dragon Warrior – a game that helped solidify my long-lasting love for RPGs.

Be sure to give this video a watch and comment below what games you received that year!
