Xeno Crisis Dreamcast version confirmed… plus a chance of Twin Stick support!

A few weeks ago we reported that a Kickstarter project for a new Mega Drive/Genesis title, Xeno Crisis, had launched. Since our post, the game has successfully been funded, with a Dreamcast stretch-goal revealed and achieved! Yes, that’s right, Xeno Crisis will now be coming to SEGA’s 16-bit and 128-bit consoles. Woo!

Interestingly, there’s an option to download a CDI image of the game, which you are free to burn to a CD yourself. While that may not appeal to everyone, it does save the cost of physical production and shipping – meaning it’s a more affordable option for many people.

Of course, there are also physical Dreamcast versions available to back, which is great. Plus, for those who had previously backed the physical release of the Mega Drive version, you will receive the digital Dreamcast version too! Awesome stuff.

What’s more, those sexy folk over at the Dreamcast Junkyard reached out to the team at Bitmap Bureau on Twitter and suggested the possibility of Twin Stick support, which would be ideal for this type of game. Nothing is confirmed, but Bitmap Bureau responded with a very positive:

“…let’s give it a go! We’ll test it out and hopefully be able to add support. :)”

So, fingers crossed, those of you lucky enough to own a Twin Stick, might soon see a new use for it!

If the idea of a Dreamcast release of Xeno Crisis piques your interest, be sure to support the game’s development further, via the Kickstarter page!
