Phantasy Star Online 2 anime coming West in 2016

I know you might have clicked this article thinking SEGA has finally come to their damn senses and decided to release Phantasy Star Online 2 here, but sadly, they still haven’t yet.

But we do have some good news – Sentai Filmworks has announced it has secured Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation as part of its 2016 anime lineup. It will begin airing in Japan in January, and it will be available digitally soon after, with a home video release sometime after.

The show follows “Itsuki Tachibana, a player of Phantasy Star Online 2, and the challenges he faces both in and outside of the game,” the announcement read.

PSO 2: The Animation is directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi, with Mitsutaka Hirota handling both scripting and series composition, the announcement continued. Character designs are provided by Minoko Takasu, with animation produced by TELECOM ANIMATION FILM.

Sentai didn’t specify if there would be both a subtitle and dubbed options, but based on their past releases, we’re hoping for both!
