SEGA’s Sonic-branded air hockey and basketball machines are getting a makeover
SEGA’s Sonic-branded basketball and air hockey machines have been enjoyed by many people throughout the years, and the blue brand is looking to give those favorites a facelift. SEGA’s Justin Burke explains:
“The original Sonic-branded games brought a whole new lease of life to that category of game, where the typical look was quite dated and very similar across all manufacturers. Our blue and white Sonic Allstars version changed all that, and with our iconic mascot Sonic the Hedgehog being a big part of the design, the income was noticeably higher than standard units. We felt after five years it was time to give the Allstars hit range a boost and keep them at the top of the league when it comes to air hockey and basketballs”
The new look has been created by the Sonic design team from Japan and it looks pretty awesome. SEGA will be launching more new arcade machines to mark Sonic’s 25th anniversary in 2016, which include Sonic Blast Ball and Sonic Dash Extreme.
