D4 & Egg Project to release Madou Monogatari compilation in Japan
D4 Enterprise and EGG Project release constantly restored retro compilations of classic videogame titles, they announced their upcoming one is SEGA & Compile’s Madou Monogatari series. For those who don’t know Madou Monogatari (it means “Magical Tale”), is a series of dungeon crawler RPGS that spawned the whole Puyo Puyo Series. Madou Monogatari tells the origin and stories of popular characters, later used traditionally in the whole Puyo Puyo series, like Arle Nadja, Carbuncle, Draco, and the Puyos among many others.
This Japanese Compile title never made it to the US on SEGA Consoles (Mega Drive, Saturn, Game Gear versions) or PCs, however some PSX, and SNES ports made it here. There’s even a new title (Sei Madou Monogatari) that’s getting a release for PS Vita on Japan.
This upcoming EGG Project release for PC, will be a reprint of the original PC-9801 & MSX2 editions, which are also the same done for the Mega Drive, made with so much detail that even the original color booklets will be reprinted. The compilation will feature 2 different cover version, both will have the same games: Madou Monogatari 1, 2, 3, ARS, and Madou Monogatari Episode II Carbuncle.
The compilations are available now on Compile’s (original developers) site.
