Sonic Adventure is September’s Game of the Month
Over the past few months, we’ve focused the SEGA Nerds’ Game of the Month Club on several amazing Genesis games, like Altered Beast, M.U.S.H.A., ToeJam & Earl, Ecco the Dolphin and Shining Force. But it’s time for us to move away from SEGA’s 16-bit monster and focus on its last console – the Dreamcast, which was released this month 15 years ago.
And what better game to highlight in this month of celebration than the game that helped showcase the Dreamcast’s power than Sonic Adventure?
Why Sonic Adventure?
Sonic Adventure was a hallmark moment in the franchise that marked Sonic’s first foray in a truly 3D environment. Sure, there was Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic Fighters before it, but let’s not kid ourselves here, Sonic Adventure was the real deal.
It’s also the game that convinced many gamers to buy a Dreamcast in the first place. That beautiful demo convinced any who watched it that the Dreamcast was truly a next-generation machine.
How it works!
Oh, you’re a new member to the Game of the Month Club, you say? Well, here’s how it works:
- We choose a game;
- Play it throughout the month and
- Share our experiences together in the SEGA Nerds official forum thread.
It’s a month-long discussion, so we encourage you to participate in the forum thread as often as possible as you experience the game. As usual, we have several articles specific to our Game of the Month.
How you can play!
Fortunately, you can still pick up a complete copy of Sonic Adventure for fairly cheap. If you’re looking to play it elsewhere, however, here are your alternatives:
– Steam for $7.99 (DX version)
– Amazon for $7.99 (DX version)
– Xbox Marketplace for $4.99
– PlayStation Store for $4.99
