There’s been quite a bit of Sonic Boom floating around the Internet in the weeks ahead of E3 as SEGA lifted the embargo on a preview event it held.
It seemed the consensus from many media outlets was the game, up to that point, was kinda meh.
During E3, SEGA had a playable demo of both Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. What we have here is 15 minutes of off-screen Rise of Lyric footage showing three areas of playthrough, featuring both the speed and adventure levels we’ve heard so much about.
As hopeful as I’ve been on this game, I have to admit the speed level looks pretty uninspired and the combat doesn’t look like it’s worth writing home about. I’m still holding my final verdict until I actually get to play the game, though, since, ya know, that’s kind of important when forming an opinion.
