Just how scary is Alien: Isolation?…

[Caution, the video above contains potential game spoilers. So if you don’t want to see possible in-game events, then don’t watch.]

The key feature of the original Alien movie and one that has followed the franchise throughout is the element of fear. After the lacklustre Aliens: Colonial Marines last year, the gaming world has been looking at Alien: Isolation with caution. One question has been whether the game will hold up the original movie’s fear factor… well luckily IGN has found out.

The above video shows some of the IGN team playing a demo of the game for the first time, with the lights off…

Aside from seeing how the gamers react to the game, which seems very promising, one key thing to take away is the amount of detail that seems to have gone into making the game. Some of the throwaway comments made indicate the depth we could expect to see, such as the orchestral score taken from the movies, keeping the same technology from the movies and even random bits of chewing gum under a desk.

It’s safe to say that Alien: Isolation looks to be shaping up rather well – thanks to a sterling job from The Creative Assembly.
