SEGA bringing Sonic titles to Amazon Fire TV
Amazon took the wraps off its new gaming set-top box today called the Fire TV, which begins shipping today for $99. As with any new gaming device, SEGA is porting several Sonic titles to the Fire TV.
Christian Whitehead, who has been responsible for several amazing Sonic mobile ports, tweeted today that he ported Sonic 1, Sonic 2 and Sonic CD to the Amazon Fire TV.
@thatsmytrunks I ported Sonic 1,2,CD to the Amazon Fire for the launch, it’s straight forward, and nicer than Ouya so far.

Whitehead ported Sonic 4: Episodes 1 and 2 and Sonic CD to the Ouya, which he referenced in the tweet. It’s been well documented that Ouya titles aren’t selling very well, and it was telling that SEGA didn’t port Sonic 2 to the Ouya when it was released on mobile devices.
Unless things are drastically different between Amazon and Ouya, SEGA may take a wait-and-see approach on how well its first bundle of Sonic titles sell before committing further tiles to the Amazon Fire TV.
In addition to SEGA, 2K Games, Disney, Electronic Arts, Telltale Games, Ubisoft and Double Fine Productions will release titles on the Fire TV.
