You will not be able to unsee Shenmue on Oculus Rift

When Yu Suzuki developed Shenmue, he wanted to create as close to a living, breathing world as possible, but we’re pretty sure he didn’t have virtual reality in mind. YouTube user MaruluExploit combined the game with the Oculus Rift, a virtual reality headset, for some pretty horrifying results.

“I was bored, so I tried to get the Null dc dreamcast emulator to run with the Rift,” he wrote in the video description. “At the moment the only thing in 3D is the UI, the rest is still in 2D. Head tracking is not yet implemented. The video jumps are because I only have the free version of Fraps, which can only record 30 seconds at a time.”

As you can see, there’s still quite a bit of work to be done, and we’ll follow his channel closely to see if there’s any further development.
