Five games SEGA should bring to Wii U

Gaming has become increasingly diverse in recent years, with new methods and industries of gaming rapidly gaining popularity. Just think of the limitless number of downloadable gaming apps for mobile phones and smart tablets, or the massive influx of real money gamblers to BetFair’s Casino and other gambling sites online! Essentially, the increasing capacity of online gaming – from mobile apps, to real money gambling, to online multiplayer – is resulting in a rapidly changing industry. But even in the face of all this change, nothing beats an upgrade to a classic franchise on a superior gaming console.

This brings to mind the Wii U, where many gaming fans are hoping to see a number of favorite classics revived. Specifically, there is some hope that SEGA, which has partnered with Nintendo before on games, will bring about some new editions of our favorite old games. Here are five SEGA games in particular we’d love to see coming out on the Wii U.

Jet Grind Radio

This rollerblading/graffiti tagging game from 2000 Dreamcast (and 2002 Xbox) was an incredibly entertaining blend of gaming elements. From top-of-the-line graphics at the time, to fun characters, a perfect soundtrack, challenging gameplay and dynamic levels, the franchise had it all, and would seem to adapt well to a modern console. If the Tony Hawk games can work so well (and they do), Jet Grind Radio has a future.

Shenmue

This seems like one of the best bets for a SEGA reboot on Wii U, simply because it’s been rumored and hinted at for years now. Shenmue 2, out on Xbox and Dreamcast (in the UK) in 2002, left plenty of story to come in this open world adventure game. The effect for fans has been much like the cliffhanger at the end of a good film, except that it’s now been over a decade without a sequel!

Crazy Taxi

The old Crazy Taxi series has something of a cult following, and used to be one of the most entertaining games on the market. The premise is simple: drive a cab as frantically as you desire to pick up customers and get them to destinations. But fun city layouts, an entertaining soundtrack, and various drivers and challenges made for an awesome game that we’d love to see updated.

Fighters Megamix

This mid-90’s franchise was one of the first to combine characters from different games and franchises, in what has become known as a Super Smash Bros. style. A new game in this franchise would be incredibly exciting, because it could incorporate all of the new characters SEGA has created in the past 15 years!

Ristar

This stretchy-armed star figure is nothing special in terms of specific gameplay we might recommend for a reboot. But Ristar is a great option for an adventure character in the vein of Sonic, Mario, etc. This franchise would be a fun addition to Wii U for the sake of variety.
