SEGA confirms Aliens Wii-U cancellation
As reports came out yesterday, people have speculating that SEGA might have cancelled the Wii-U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines. Well, IGN and Kotaku are reporting that SEGA has been in contact and the company has now confirmed that Aliens: CM is no longer in development for the Nintendo console.
“SEGA can confirm that the Wii U sku of Aliens: Colonial Marines is no longer in development.
“We are constantly looking at all areas of our business and in this case have made the decision to not continue development of the Wii U version. Rest assured that we have some fantastic developments for Wii U in the pipeline which we will announce at a later date.”
Seeing as the game has suffered so many setbacks over the years, only to come out to receive nothing but negative reviews (except from the odd site that was being sponsored by SEGA at the time), it’s not surprising that SEGA has made this move.
I totally understand and (to some extent) agree with SEGA’s move here. Even with recent updates and patches to fix some of the notorious bugs, the Wii-U version would no doubt be help with nothing but scepticism, so why waste the extra time and money to release a game that no one wants?
