Vanquish PC port officially announced

A few weeks ago we reported how SEGA left a little teaser package in a Bayonetta Steam update, hinting that a Vanquish port could be on the cards and we are so glad to say that, today, SEGA announced that Vanquish will indeed be the latest in a line of PC ports! Whoop!

The game is set to launch on Thursday 25th May, 2017 on Steam and pre-orders include 5-track soundtrack sampler, avatars, art book and exclusive wallpapers. Plus for those who already own Bayonetta on Steam, if you pre-order, you automatically get 25% off your pre-order!

On a personal note, I’m very excited for this – as Vanquish is possibly my favourite of the Platinum Games’ developed titles SEGA published (originally) on the Xbox 360 and PS3 – and I thought it was criminally overlooked by most of the gaming public. It received positive reviews at its time, but it didn’t seem to light up the charts as much as I thought it deserved. If you haven’t played it, it’s an incredibly fun, intense and fast-paced 3rd person shooter – there’s nothing like it out there.

But anyway – I think it’s great to see this game finally make its way to PC gamers. Hopefully the port will be as solid as the excellent Bayonetta one SEGA released last month.

For those of you wanting to know some of the finer details, SEGA has already given some answers (also see full press release, below gallery):

  • Launch date: Thursday 25th May, 2017
  • Frame rate: Vanquish will run at 60 FPS, but also includes unlocked framerates, so if you have the hardware, you can crank it to 144 FPS.
  • Resolution: Vanquish has options to unlock resolutions up to 4K, anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, SSAO lighting, scalable texture and shadow quality, and more.
  • Keyboard and mouse controls: Vanquish will support keyboard and mouse controls.
  • Language options: Vanquish is available with voice overs in the following languages – English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese. Players can choose any combination of languages and subtitles from the start menu.
  • Steam support: There is full Steam support with Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud Save, Trading Cards, Leader Boards, and Big Picture Mode.
